Why does my website need maintenance?

Building your website on the WordPress platform has many advantages. It allows for additional features on your website such as eCommerce and social media integrations. It is also great for clients who want to be able to edit parts of their website themselves. However, WordPress is regularly being updated and so cannot be ignored, at risk of your website being hacked.

In the way you would service your car regularly, the same goes for websites. Regular maintenance and updates helps to make sure that your website is running smoothly and is less vulnerable to attack from hackers who are looking for ways to gain access to your site.

WordPress sites use ‘plugins,’ which are small extra programs installed to add extra features to the website. Developers of these plugins will regularly release updates to ensure that the site works correctly. It is vital that the plugins are tested and installed on your site to keep it functioning correctly.

Our maintenance packages give you both security and peace of mind, knowing that your site is being kept safe and well looked after. We keep regular backups of your website incase the worst should happen. We make sure that your website performs optimally when your customers are viewing the site. To put it simply, we keep your site running smoothly so you don’t have to.

Why should I let you take care of my site?

At Perspective Design we understand the importance of maintaining your WordPress website. We have experience in installing and managing WordPress websites for a range of clients and have the expertise to keep your site working correctly. When we take on a new website project, we audit the site for security issues, ensure that the site is up to date, install additional security and backup procedures and monitor your site to keep it working optimally.

Which package is right for me?

For most small business clients, we would typically recommend our Premium package. This includes everything you need to keep your site functioning at its best. For larger companies or individuals who have a more demanding website, we recommend our Elite package. This includes additional enhancements, such as a content delivery network to speed up your website even further, extra support and regular advice through our strategy sessions.

Do you offer local advice and support?

We pride ourself on our communication with our clients and will send out regular reports so that you know your site is functioning well.

We offer advice and support to our clients regarding all aspects of their website. This can include advice on the best plugins to use in order to add new features to their website or advice on integrating their sites with different payment providers.

We provide you with reports into the performance of your website and will liaise with you to ensure that the site is bringing in the customers you are looking for.

We care about how your business looks online and are here to help you succeed.

Does the monthly time rollover?

Like a lawyer’s retainer, the monthly time is there for you every month. This ensures you a place in our queue and our resources, however, it does not rollover for any of our plans. You can take comfort in the fact that what you request within that 60/240 minutes of time (depending on your plan) will be addressed by our team with immediate attention.

What happens if my website goes down, is hacked, breaks, etc?

The whole purpose of our care plans is preventative care, so we hope to prevent anything from happening. However, in the case your website has a serious problem, we will be there right by your side. We liaise directly with your website hosting to help resolve any issues that arise. We cannot promise your website will not be hacked but can promise we will do everything in our power to prevent it, as well as assist in the restoration and cleanup of the website with one of our backups.

What tasks are included in the dedicated support time?

Glad you asked! Content update requests and small design improvements are the most common requests, so any job that can fit into half an hour is included in the dedicated support time. However, requests for new features to your website will likely result in a formal quote as those commonly go over the monthly dedicated time.

How do consulting calls work?

Email is our best form of communication, especially for the smaller tasks. However, when it comes to looking at your business growth, we know that sharing ideas works best on the phone or on a video call. These 1 hour consulting calls are reserved for our Premium and Elite clients. Consulting calls enable us to offer advice on changes that will allow for website growth and improvements, resulting in more sales.

What if I need more hours?

If you have a task that requires more than your dedicated monthly time, we will submit a quote for you to approve separately from your plan. However, with your approval if your jobs exceed your included time, we are happy to work with you and bill you for the additional hours at our current support rate of £40/hr. If you regularly use more hours than those included in your plan, we would recommend that you buy a monthly block of time to avoid those unexpected bills at the end of the month. These are available is 5, 10 and 20 hour bundles.

Can I really cancel anytime?

Absolutely. We are all about relationships with you and your website, so we would hate to see you go but we know financial needs weigh on many decisions and don’t want to lock anyone in. You can request a cancellation at any time via email to our support team support - all we require is 30 days notice.

My website was not built by Perspective Design, can I still be on a client plan?

Although these plans are for sites we build or re-design, we welcome clients who are looking for a long term relationship.

For websites that we didn’t build, we charge a fixed onboarding fee. During this process we evaluate the site and deal with any problems that we find. This process includes a site audit, optimisation, compliance check for Data Privacy (GDPR) and we also ensure that your analytics tracking is configured correctly. Can I just do it myself?

Keeping your website up to date, backed up and secure takes a lot of time. It takes your focus away from what you should be doing, which is building relationships with your customers, staff and partners. The technology continues to evolve and there is no way you can keep ahead of all the trends and developments.

What if my website goes down at a weekend?

If you are on our Premium or Elite package, you will have an out of hours support number which you can call, where one of our team will be available to help you. Our out of hours support will be billed at £80/hr.

What package should I choose if I don’t have an eCommerce website?

For non eCommerce websites, we usually recommend our Standard care plan. But if you’re serious about growing your business, then we’d be happy to put you onto a higher package.

Why do you charge an onboarding fee?

Our onboarding fee covers a full audit of your site, including a review of your hosting, security & malware, backups, software licensing, website performance and design. We then optimise the site, check your GDPR compliance, and we make sure your analytics is set up correctly. Do I need to pay the onboarding fee if you built my website?

No, you don’t need to pay the onboarding fee. If we built your website, then we know your website intimately. We know every line of code and all of the variables and combinations of things that make it work correctly. We also know the software your website is built on very well. We’ve been using it for years and all of our websites (including this one) are built on the same software. So we are in the best position to keep your website up and running and open for business and we can do that with one of our Website Care Plans.
